Haley photo 2 - click to enlarge slightly. Haley photo 1 - click to enlarge slightly. This is Haley. She is the Fila girl I went to Staten Island, NY to pick up and brought back to Southeastern, PA. I fostered her for about 12 weeks until we found a suitable home for her. Haley's story is a sad one as are many rescues. She was originally found wandering the streets as a stray in Newark, NJ. She ended up in a Shelter near there and was adopted by a woman who evidently didn't deal well with a Fila. Haley was locked in a room with no windows all day while the lady worked. Haley was never taught to walk on leash or any obedience. The lady took her to a shelter in NY and A OEM rescue lady was duped into taking her for foster being told she was a Mastiff. Haley had to live outside in a pen and dog house Until we came for her as she was too rough with the OEM puppy who lived there. She was going to be put to sleep. Haley was a bit naughty but a loving, darling girl. We became very bonded. Ida Estep in Massachusetts found her a home with a man in New Hampshire who had a Fila before that died. He is older and single and has a nice property. Haley was starved for love. My puppy girl as I called her, as she was so little, got as much love as I could give her. Now she is with Boris in New Hampshire who will love her too. Submitted by Anni

Hayden BEFORE photo - click to enlarge slightly. Hayden AFTER photo 1 - click to enlarge slightly. Hayden AFTER photo 2 - click to enlarge slightly. This is Haden (BEFORE on the left, AFTER on the right) seen with his wonderful and loving new owner, Genevieve, who writes: In March my Fila named Foucault died suddenly. The loss was unbearable. I made a decision to give a home to a rescue Fila in his memory. The first one I saw looked very much like him. Unfortunately he was in Texas and I lived in Alberta Canada. He was a "no name" with an unknown history except that he was dreadfully neglected. The rescue organization was extremely helpful and after much planning and help from people along the way, he was flown here. The costly venture was worth every penny. Haden has been with me 3 days and he is so grateful for the love and attention given to him. He has his own mattress with a large comforter which he carefully arranges before he lies down. Haden loves hugs, massages and special treats. His appearance has changed remarkably in the few days he has been with me. He is treasured and will never again be homeless or in need. Thank you Chris and the Fila rescue organization. Submitted by Genevieve Simmons

Webmaster's notes: Many thanks to Carol at United Airlines Cargo (800-621-5647) and to Stephanie at Schenker International Shippers) for all of their assistance and support in getting this boy to his destination.

UPDATE 8-3-01: Mom writes: "[Hayden] had his 3rd injection for heartworm yesterday and will be tested in 4 months. He took it like a champion, never flinched. He is quite the favorite at the Vet’s office -- as they know his history they are in admiration of his gentle and calm disposition and of course his size. I have been cutting back on his food as he is 170 lbs. He is totally spoiled here but is always a gentleman about everything done for him."

UPDATE: Hayden is now HEARTWORM NEGATIVE !!!

UPDATE: Hayden recently departed our world in search of the Rainbow Bridge...

Mycroft photo 1 - click to enlarge. Mycroft photo 2 - click to enlarge. In January, after months of back and forth e-mails, finally Mycroft (formerly Dozer) flew from the Texas home of his foster mom, Kathy Greer, to his new stomping ground, here, in Newfoundland, Canada. He is now the newest member of my feline (2)-dog (3)-human(1) pack. Five months had past since his arrival. This ultimate canine gentleman even mellowed Clara, my female cat matriarch. Wherever he goes, people fall for the big fawn slubberpuss. Somehow, he charmed his way from my hand-made wool rug, to the sofa, to the bed. He now qualifies as the biggest lap dog of Meadows (my 600 souls town). Running with his two beagle buddies did fantastic for his shape and it is an hilarious sight to observe the trio sniffing their way in the wood. Thanks so much to Fila Rescue, without Mycroft, my fur family would not be the same. Submitted by Marie-Josee Garand (05/03)
