Jasper is still looking for his forever home. He is a beautiful neutered brindle male weighing about 130 lbs. Jasper is around three years old now. He has lots of energy and is extremely agile and fast. He is an official Fila Rescue, Inc. dog being fostered in the Central Texas area.

 

Jasper is completely and reliably housebroken. While in the house, he likes to laze around although he is always alert.  We were told he had no temperament but he has clearly demonstrated that he does. He is very protective of the yard and the house and in a casual test he responded well, demonstrating that he would not tolerate an intruder attempting to enter the home or the yard.

 

He has had no problem bonding with us and in fact seemed to really crave the opportunity to bond. Jasper is very smart, learning to sit in minutes, and will now sit to solicit attention. Jasper will need an owner committed to working with him and maintaining consistency with training.

 

Jasper needs to be an only dog and needs to go to a home without cats. Jasper has a very strong prey drive and cats would not be safe around him or other little furry/feathered critters. Jasper has lived with other dogs but tends to become jealous if he perceives the other dogs to be getting more attention than him or more food than him! Ideally Jasper's new owner will have plenty of time to devote to Jasper alone.

 

 Jasper has interacted with some older children and appeared to be comfortable around them. We would not recommend that Jasper go to a home with young children.

 

Jasper was heartworm positive when we picked him up at the shelter but after treatment is now heartworm negative!!

 

Jasper should be an indoor dog. He likes to be outside but not for long periods, he craves company and hates being left out.

 

Some of the things he does not like: Water and having his nails clipped.

Some of the things he does like: Walks, runs, treats :-)
